What is a melody? A melody has rhythm and a melody has pitches (tonal). Both of these are necessary skills to fully grasp any melody that we want to perform.
Have you ever tried to play an instrument but just could not get the sound that you wanted? Was it out of tune? Was it scratchy? Technique is how you get that beautiful sound that you have been searching for.
Have you ever tried to sing/play an instrument with someone? Harmony is how we learn do music with others. Harmony puts your individual sound in the context of a shared sound.
